for the past few years my school has had a sort of partnership with the structural firm thornton tomasetti for this class. we end up redesigning past projects they’ve had. i know last year’s class the mgm convention center in vegas. this year we have the baha mar resort metropolis in the bahamas. the scope of the project is ridiculous. it’s the biggest construction project underway in the americas at the moment. it comprises four hotel towers that sit on top of an enormous podium structure. the podium structure will be the world’s largest concrete structure.
were going to be responsible for the structural design of the four hotel towers and of the podium. im pretty excited, just hope i end up having a good group of people to work with on this.
